After completing his specialist training at the School of Design in Basel, Daniel Spehr completed a classic photographer’s education. Afterwards, he founded his own photo studio, documenting the Basel culture and art scene over the years. As a member of the informal group “cameraobscura” he explores the phenomenon of walk-in cameras and occasionally builds entire museum rooms into Camera Obscuras (2003 Museum of Contemporary Art Basel, 2004 Kunstraum Baden, 2005 Museum Schwab Biel). As part of a teaching assignment at the School of Design in Zurich, Department of Cities Photography, he focuses on urban typologies and the phenomenon of urban art.
