CAFx Housing: Common Forms

TAB will join an exploration of the potential of Common Forms – a method for designing ‘in common’, as well as a definition for design that activates common space.

Monday, 8 April 2019 from 17:00-19:00 UTC+02
KADK, Auditorium 6, Danneskiold-Samsøes Allé 53, 1434 København K, Danmark

We will discuss Common Forms in the context of housing, through three projects – the architectural event, the small-scale intervention, and the holistic regeneration project. These projects focus on two urban sites – Copenhagen and Tbilisi.

Program:

Tina Gurgenidze – curator of the inaugural Tbilisi Architecture Biennial.
Tina will explore the format of the Biennial as a platform for developing cross-border discussions around common themes.

Benjamin Wells and Francis Naydler – members of research and design collective Medium.
Francis and Benjamin will present their contribution to the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial, discussing the common processes of its design methodology as well as the common intentions of its architecture. They will also discuss their ongoing investigations into the lack of common spaces in neglected housing areas in Copenhagen.

Søren Nielsen – partner and head of research and development at Vandkunsten Architects.
Søren will present a number of Vandkunsten’s recent projects that establish common forms both in their design and building process.

The presentations will be followed by an open discussion with the audience.
Refreshments have been kindly provided by the Embassy of Georgia in Copenhagen.

The event is free and open to the public. The presentations will be in English.

CAFx Housing: Common Forms and the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, and is kindly supported by KADK and CAFx.
