The ETH Zurich Master of Advanced Studies Program in Urban Design at the Chair of Marc Angélil directed by Charlotte Malterre-Barthes (in collaboration with CLUSTER and Something Fantastic) initiated an investigation on informal settlements in Cairo. Parts of the research were displayed at the Egyptian Pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice in May 2016, at the French Institute in Cairo, as well as in the Artellewa gallery in the informal district of Ard-el-Liwa in Cairo in 2017.The research has been published in ‘ Housing Cairo: The Informal Response’ (Ruby Press, Berlin, 2016, DAM Best Architecture Book Prize).
